Widex began as a family-owned hearing improvement company in Denmark in 1956. Since then they’ve been at the forefront of hearing improvement technology and become an innovator in the space.

Widex is one of the six largest hearing aid manufacturers in the world, with a global market share of about 10%. They have a foothold in over 100 countries, and subsidiaries in 35 countries, including Australia.

Widex Hearing Aids

Widex provides several options for hearing aids, with enhanced technologies that adapt to particular situations and interface with your smartphone.

Ahead, we’ll take a closer look at the line of Widex hearing aids, and some of the different styles you can choose from under each category.

Widex Evoke

Widex has branded the Evoke as the world’s first smart hearing aid. The hearing aid learns from you and the environment around you to craft the best hearing experience over time.

The more you use and adjust your hearing aids, the more they respond to and react with the environment. You will be in control of your hearing aids the whole time, but should find that you have to adjust them less frequently the longer you have them.

That’s because the Evoke is learning from your adjustments, and will apply them to different situations in the future. This not only allows for a comfortable, natural sound but for the ability to have a hands-off hearing experience.

The Evoke app and SoundSense Learn feature make simple adjustments easy as well. You open the app, pick from one of the two sound profiles, and there you have it. You can make further adjustments, but making a sound switch is simple and intuitive.

Widex Beyond and Beyond Z

The Widex Beyond and Beyond Z hearing aids are smartphone-enabled hearing aids that work with your phone to help personalise and tailor your hearing experience. The Beyond Z hearing aids are the rechargeable version.

The Beyond and Beyond Z hearing aids are made for smartphones. They work in tandem with the Beyond App, and allow you to stream music, video, and calls directly to your hearing aids.

You can change your preferences, alter the settings, and create templates for certain situations like busy restaurants, meetings, or one-on-one conversations.

The Widex Beyond Z hearing aids are the new and improved rechargeable technology that Widex boasts will last all day. You can have your standard Beyond hearing aids retrofitted to become rechargeable if you so desire.

Although Widex asserts that their rechargeable batteries last all day, you may encounter a dead hearing aid once in a while. When this happens, you can always replace them with standard batteries if you’re too far from an outlet.

Widex Unique Hearing Aids

The Unique Widex hearing aids is the standard line of Widex hearing aids with options for those who want invisible, in the ear, behind the ear, and receiver in canal hearing aids.

You can opt for additional power with larger, behind the ear models, or aim for discretion with styles like the invisible CIC Micro.

All of the Unique hearing aids provide optimal sound quality for their class, and will automatically adjust to match your current sound picture. They reduce background noise like wind and are able to distinguish soft sounds like quiet speech.

Widex Unique hearing aids are available in the following styles:

Widex Custom

Widex Custom hearing aids are in-the-ear hearing aids for a discrete look without giving up too much performance. As their name suggests, these hearing aids are custom-made to fit your ear and are designed to your needs and preferences.

Like many of the other Widex hearing aids, the Custom line will react and respond to your environment to make sure you’re getting the right sounds without all of the background noise.

These hearing aids also connect to a range of DEX devices like TVs, phones, and more.

Widex Dream

The Widex Dream hearing aids focus on providing users with rich, natural sounds. They aim to get as close to natural hearing as possible with advanced distortion protection and enhanced details and textures.

You can also connect these hearing aids to all DEX assistive devices.

Like the Unique hearing aids, the Dream allows you to pick the style that best suits you, whether that’s discrete in-the-ear models or powerful behind-the-ear styles.

The products include:

Widex Menu

The Widex Menu series lets you enable the features you need or want without paying extra for unused solutions.

You can choose the Menu that best fits your lifestyle, hearing loss needs, and current situation. The options include things like speech enhancement, relaxation, and tinnitus management, among others.

This way, you can select features as you need them or as you notice a flaw in the hearing aid, but you don’t have to spend up front.

Widex Accessories

Widex also provides a range of accessories for their hearing aids, which includes several devices that interface with your home. Here’s a list of some of the most popular Widex accessories.

Widex Zen Therapy

Zen Therapy is the tinnitus relief system from Widex. The program began in 2012 and applies a holistic approach to tinnitus. The four areas of the program focus on:

  • Counselling
  • Amplification
  • Relaxation
  • Fractal Tones

Tinnitus often rears its head in complete silence. With the Widex Tinnitus Management App, you can listen to relaxing, refreshing sounds to make tinnitus less noticeable.

This combination of amplification and relaxation techniques can help truly solve the issue of tinnitus, where some other hearing aids only put a bandaid on the true problem.

Hearing Aid FAQs

What kind of hearing aid should I buy?

This is a common question but does not have a standard answer. Someone who lives life on the go may want a smaller, less noticeable hearing aid. If your hearing loss is severe, you may need a more powerful behind-the-ear device.

How do I know if I need hearing aids?

Hearing loss hardly ever happens overnight so you might not know you need hearing aids right away. The best way to tell is to complete a hearing test, but you can ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you often ask people to repeat themselves?
  • Do you have trouble hearing the TV?
  • Are certain voices more difficult to hear for you?

How long does the adjustment period last?

It can take some time to get used to your hearing aids, especially when it comes to background noise, distortion, and feedback. Choosing high-quality hearing aids can help shorten the adjustment period.
